This course will provide information on the functional behavior assessment (FBA) process and how it informs behavior intervention planning (BIP) for students displaying challenging behavior. Participants will learn about and practice collecting behavioral data via indirect and direct assessments (e.g., ABC data) on students they are involved with, and will understand and practice analyzing the data they collect. Content on how to use behavioral assessment data to inform interventions will be addressed. Content about the principles of behavior will be embedded throughout the course.
This workshop will provide a brief overview on how to define behaviors followed by in-depth discussion about the dimensions of behavior, methods to measure behaviors, and ways to write IEP behavior goals. Specific tools will be shared for progress monitoring behaviors of concern. This workshop is intended for those who assist with writing and monitoring FBAs, BIPs, and IEP goals in the area of behavior.
