This is the last of three courses required for the Iowa Paraeducator Generalist Certification available through the Iowa Board of Educational Examiners. It is strongly encouraged that participants have previously taken Course 1 and 2, prior to this course.
In this course, paraeducators will learn about behavioral and emotional issues presented in classrooms today. The course also explores strategies for developing professional relationships with students and school personnel.
Participants must also complete a 10-hour practical experience in the classroom setting. Participants who have completed course 1 and 2 will also begin the process of applying for their paraeducator certification through the BoEE at the end of the course.
This is a 2 credit (30 clock hours) blended course, which requires the completion of online assignments, quizzes and journals in Canvas. Participants will be expected to submit weekly assignments to complete the additional hours needed to receive a passing grade for this class.
